The Pursuit of Higher Ground presented by Rand Stagen

By Rigel Thurston

In last week’s Zoom group, Rand Stagen presented The Pursuit of Higher Ground.

Rand’s presentation revealed why the root cause of America’s current divisions is not race, class, or politics but worldviews.

Drawing upon the wisdom of the Stoics (who invite us to recognize that “what’s IN the way IS the way), Rand revealed the rich opportunity of this cultural moment. Rather than viewing hyper-polarization as an obstacle, we are invited to move beyond common ground…in the pursuit of higher ground.

  • 👉 Heineken Worlds Apart Video – This is an outstanding 5-minute video that explores our shared humanity.
  • 👉 Ayishat Akanbi  Interview –  Watch her 2020 interview with David Fuller. Among everything I’ve consumed on the topic of race, I have found her insights on diversity and inclusion to be wildly unique and very aligned with the principles of integral theory.
  • 👉 Katharine Birbalsingh Keynote – Watch her 2023 11-minute keynote address at ARC in London. She is the founder and Headmistress of Michaela Community School. Birbalsingh provides a fascinating point of view on why a conservative set of shared values (lower case “c”) is critical in order to foster true multiculturalism.
